California Lead in Jewelry Law

All California jewelry dealers are currently wrestling with the new lead in jewelry law instituted this year. If you offer any type of jewelry for retail sale to anyone in Calfornia, you must be in compliance with the new law even if you are located out of state. For more information click the link above. Although many of our findings are plated brass and therefore considered safe, we are currently seeking lead-free component sources and discussing this situation with our suppliers. For our Darice findings, wherever the package itself is labeled as made from brass, we have made that statement in the product description, if the product description does not state the item is brass, then it is not so stated on the packaging. Lead-free components and components with certificates of compliance will be listed on our website soon. If you are an out of state dealer we would suggest contacting your state's office and finding out if your state will be enacting a similar law soon, we would also suggest purchasing small batches of findings from trusted sources. If you find out your state is considering a similar law, please let us know so we can post the information for other dealers.
